Graduate Application

Application Instructions and Requirements

Admission

State law requires all state-assisted universities to charge nonresident fees to Ohio male students who have not registered with the Selective Service. If you were born after December 31, 1959, have not reached the age of 27 years, and have not registered with the Selective Service, you may do so at any United States Post Office.

Students must be officially accepted for admission to the School of Graduate Studies before they may register for graduate credit. Admission to the School of Graduate Studies does not necessarily indicate candidacy for an advanced degree. Such candidacy is subject to specific requirements, as defined by the individual program.

This application form should be filled out carefully and completely. Please type or print your information. Show "N/A" (not applicable) when appropriate. If the application form is submitted with essential information that is missing or illegible, it will be returned to you to be corrected, which will delay processing. This form, when completed, must be signed and dated. All documents received by the university in connection with applications for admission become the property of Wright State University. Under no circumstances will they be returned to the applicant or forwarded to any agency or other college or university.

Former Students
Students formerly admitted to the School of Graduate Studies but not completing a course in the past four quarters, or those who have received the degree for which they were originally admitted, must submit a new application form.

Transient Status
If you have been admitted to a degree program in another regionally accredited graduate school, are currently in good standing in that program, and intend to return, you may apply for transient status. Transient status is granted for one quarter only but may be renewed. In addition to an application, students seeking this status must submit a completed transient form.

Transcripts

One (1) official transcript sent from each institution attended (except Wright State University) is required. If courses from one university/college appear on another university's/college's transcript, you are still required to submit an official transcript from the college where you originally completed the course work. Nondegree students need to submit only the official transcript that reflects the award of a baccalaureate, master's, or doctorate degree.

Application Fee

A nonrefundable $25 fee is required of all degree and certification candidates. This is a one-time fee; it is not required of anyone previously admitted to a Wright State graduate program. There is a $10 application fee for nondegree study. Students who change status from nondegree to degree need only pay an additional $15 application fee.

International Students

In addition to the application form, all international students must submit a certified copy of all university/college records in English, accompanied by official transcripts in the native language; financial statement form; official bank statement; a statement outlining degree objectives; and an official score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (for students from countries where English is not the native language).

Graduate Assistantships

Assistantships are awarded through individual departments and certain administrative offices. Assistantship responsibilities require a specified amount of time for assisting either in instruction or in research. Requests for information regard-ing assistantships should be directed to the chair of the department involved. Assistantship applications are available from the department chair's office, and all assistantship documents are to be returned to that office.
