Mission: WSU Raider Battalion promotes ROTC leadership development by actively marketing, recruiting, retaining and training qualified Cadets--focused on Scholars, Athletes, and Leaders--for commissioning in Active, Reserve and National Guard components of the United States Army to provide selfless service to the nation and support the JROTC program in developing better citizens, future leaders and community support.

Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (R.O.T.C.) is an exciting opportunity for you to develop the leadership skills needed to be an Army officer. Army officers are placed in positions of responsibility, allowed to face challenging and rewarding career opportunities, and are surrounded by the brightest people and most advanced technology in the world. “Learn, Lead, Succeed!!”
What is Army ROTC?
As a college student, you can prepare to become an Army officer while the Army assists with college expenses. The Army ROTC program is offered to full-time WSU students pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree in any major. Best of all, trying out our program WILL NOT OBLIGATE YOU. In fact, you won’t incur an obligation until you activate a scholarship or begin your junior year, whichever comes first. The program consists of one class per quarter along with a Leadership Lab. A 33 day Leader Development and Assessment Course occurs traditionally the summer after your junior year. Other activities you can get involved with include Ranger Challenge Team, Rifle & Pistol Team, Color Guard, Army training such as airborne (parachuting), Air Assault (rappelling), Mountain Warfare, internship, post visits, and more!
Scholarships and Financial Aid
You can compete for an Army ROTC 2-, 3-, or 4-year $15,000/year (includes books & stipend) scholarship. Scholarships are available to college students in ANY MAJOR. Recipients are selected based on the whole person philosophy, including grade point average and personal interviews. Besides tuition, fees, and book money, scholarship and contract cadets will also receive a $300 to $500/month tax-free allowance.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Army ROTC you must meet CGPA, medical and physical fitness requirements; and you need to be recommended by the PMS. However, the first step is to GET ENROLLED IN OUR COURSE!!
AROTC classes and credit information can be found in the Wright State University catalog or quarterly periodical under Military Science. Beginning freshmen should register for MIL 111, Introduction to Military Science I. Sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students should contact the Admissions Officer at the number below. All books and uniforms are provided to you at no cost.
