Start an Impressive Resume by taking a Leadership Elective this Quarter The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (AROTC) at Wright State is an applied program which develops your leadership skills. When you register for next quarter, be sure to select a Military Science course. Leadership Development and acquiring these traits don’t happen overnight. That’s where Army ROTC comes in. Army ROTC is all about building self-discipline, confidence, and leadership skills. Find out why people are saying we have the best leadership training in America. Register for one or two courses and you can learn skills for college and the rest of your life -- like how to work as a team, think on your feet, and be a decision-maker. MIL 100 or MIL 200 level classes are one to two hour WSU electives which fit easily into your quarterly course schedule. But this classroom goes beyond just four walls. You will be working with other students in exercises that utilize problem solving, time management and teamwork. Our training is exciting and dynamic and stresses how to think, not what to think. Plus you will gain confidence through adventure activities like rappelling, survival training, and paint ball just to name a few! There is no military obligation during your freshman or sophomore year. Plus the military science class can be used as an elective credit for most undergraduate degree programs. Full academic scholarships with tax-free monthly stipend and book allowance are available for students who demonstrate scholar, athletic, and leader attributes and potential. It’s not too late for Juniors to take Army ROTC Wright State University students interested in Army ROTC have one more option to investigate. A new program called the Accelerated Cadet Commissioning Training (ACCT) begins in the fall quarter. This program will allow students to join Army ROTC in their junior year without having taken ROTC classes during their freshman and sophomore years or attending ROTC summer camp at Fort Knox. Military training and leadership development is accelerated, allowing a student to complete all pre-commissioning requirements within two years, instead of the usual four years. Look for the AROTC Information tables at the Union Market and/or Hallway adjacent to the Hanger the first week of January and during spring quarter registration in February.
