Transfer Credit for "D" Grades

3260.1 Policy Statement

  1. Transfer students are subject to all Wright State requirements, including minimum course grades and GPAs, for entrance to particular majors and programs. Transfer students who must repeat courses to meet these requirements will follow the same rules for repeating courses as students who begin at Wright State (see “Scholastic Policies” in this catalog). Grades of “pass” and “credit” are considered for transfer credit. In compliance with the Ohio Transfer and Articulation Policy, credit for all grades of D and higher in college-level classes will be posted for students who have earned an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from an Ohio public institution. Ohio Transfer and Articulation Policy was revised effective Fall 2005 for grades in courses completed outside an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree. As of Fall 2005 and thereafter, a student must have earned a course grade of D or higher (according to the definition of grades currently used at Wright State) to transfer credit for that course. Previous policy required that a student earn a grade of C or higher to transfer credit for the course. However, students who completed courses before Fall 2005 with a grade of D may request that credits be posted for those courses. Forms for submitting these requests are available in the Office of the Registrar.

3260.2 Conditions for Transfer Admission

Students meeting the requirements of the Transfer Module are subject to the following conditions:

  • The policy encourages receiving institutions to give preferential consideration for admission to students who complete the Transfer Module and either the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees. These students will be able to transfer credit for all college-level courses in which they received a passing grade of D or better.
  • The policy also encourages receiving institutions to give preferential consideration for admission to students who complete the Transfer Module with 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours. To receive transfer credit for a course completed Fall 2005 and thereafter, a student must have earned a course grade of D or higher (according to the definition of grades currently used at Wright State). Previous Ohio Transfer and Articulation Policy required that a student earn a grade of C or higher to transfer credit for the course. Students who completed courses before Fall 2005 with a grade of D may request that credits be posted for those courses. Forms for submitting these requests are available in the Office of the Registrar.
  • The policy encourages receiving institutions to admit on a nonpreferential consideration basis students who complete the Transfer Module and fewer than 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours. To receive transfer credit for a course completed Fall 2005 and thereafter, a student must have earned a course grade of D or higher.
