UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

September 9, 2004

Attendees: Chuck Taylor, Paul Hernandez, Stephen Foster, Ravi Penmetsa, Dave Sauter, Bonnie Mathies, Katherine Myers ( for Jeff Vernooy), Jim Vance, Terri Klaus, and Brenda Mobley

I. Approval of Minutes

Minutes of the August meeting were approved as written.

II. Review of University Technology Plan Draft

Paul Hernandez distributed copies of the comments he received from several faculty members regarding the Technology Plan Draft.

1. Under the category of "Addressing Faculty Technology Needs" (p.6), the concern was the wording of #2 - "Move faculty computing to laptops". After a brief discussion, it was decided that Stephen Foster will re-word this section based on suggestions from the committee. Stephen will be accepting other suggestions regarding this section via e-mail until Monday, September 20.
   
2. On Page 8, the "Staffing" section will be deleted from the document.
   
3. Bonnie Mathies inquired if this plan included the needs of staff as well as faculty and students. Paul's response was that staff needs are not taken into consideration under this particular plan. Bonnie and Dave Sauter will develop a paragraph to address this concern.

Due to time constraints, a special meeting is scheduled to continue this review of the Technology Plan Draft. The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 3:00p.m. in 315 Library.
