CaTS Security Strategy Patricia Vendt, CaTS Information Security Officer, discussed the importance of safe, secure, and reliable computing networking resources to the university. CaTS is dedicated to the protection of these resources from threats, both internal and external, that could disrupt communications, damage information or equipment, or otherwise render these resources unavailable. It is CaTS charge to establish and maintain a secure environment for the university's computer and network resources. The overall response of the committee members was positive towards CaTS proactive approach to information security. The security strategy is available online at: http://www.wright.edu/cats/strategy/index.html. Any comments or questions can be directed to Patrica Vendt at 775-4035 or email at patricia.vendt@wright.edu. III. Faculty Computer Initiative Paul Hernandez reported that all colleges have submitted the data required for the Faculty Computer Initiative. The data has been compiled in a spreadsheet and over the next several weeks the FCI sub-committee will meet to review the information. Final recommendations will be presented to UTC at the March meeting. IV. Ownership of Classroom Equipment Dan DeStephen brought before the committee a proposal which read: "All instructional technology equipment used in general university classrooms should be retained within the Center for Teaching and Learning's inventory." Concerns were raised by several members that the proposal was too general in terms of what would fall under the heading "instructional technology equipment." Dan agreed to revise the proposal and have the committee review it again at the next meeting. Dan also distributed the information for the Ohio Learning Network's 2004-2005 Learning Communities Initiative request for proposals.
The next scheduled UTC meeting will be on Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 3:00 - 4:00 in 315 Dunbar Library.
