UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 9, 2003
Attendees: Terry Anderson, Barbara Denison, George Frey, Stephen Foster, Carol Holdcraft, Terri Klaus, Sean Kleefeld, Noel Nussbaum, Carol Rader for Dan Bertsos, Chuck Taylor, Jim Vance, Jeff Vernooy Approval of Minutes for November meetingThe minutes of last month's meeting were approved. CTL Updates Terri Klaus announced that Adrienne Cassel, an internal candidate from the Department of English, has filled the Instructional Designer position. Terri reported that 650 Distance Learning packets were distributed to students describing the 40-50 online courses being offered winter quarter. Provost's Computer Initiative Terry Anderson reminded committee members that Faculty Computer Initiative requests are due. This initiative affects full-time faculty and for replacement of machines below 550. Additional clarification was requested as to what does and does not get funded. In particular, how do research computers that have been purchased from external grant funding fit into the faculty Computer Initiative process? It was also suggested that rules for the replacement of machines be decided and announced long before the deadline to allow time for college reaction. Terry Anderson will follow up. Announcements House Bill requests are due to the Provost by February 15. The next meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2003 from 3 - 5p.m. in 267 University Hall.
