UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
February 14, 2002

Attendees:  Larry Fox,  Dan DeStephen,  Jeff Vernooy, Andy Montesano, Paul Hernandez, Terri Klaus, Donna Hamilton, Pat Walker,  David Grossie, Phil Combs, Barbara Denison, Carol Holdcraft.

Due to Chuck Taylor's absence, Dan DeStephen chaired this meeting.

 I. Approval of Minutes of Latest Meeting
The minutes of the January, 2002 meeting were approved.

II. Wireless Technology-CaTS
Larry Fox announced a project currently being reviewed by CaTS and distributed a list of 17 campus locations presently being proposed for wireless network access. Suggestions for other possible locations can be e-mailed to Larry at larry.fox@wright.edu. These locations would be available by Fall Quarter, 2002 for use by students, faculty, staff and anyone with a wireless access card installed in a PC.

II. Data Protection Policy - CaTS
Larry Fox requested UTC approval for the proposed Data Protection Guidelines and Data Protection Policy. The final drafts were emailed to the members before today's meeting for review. A unanimous vote of approval was given and the policy will be added to the Wright Way Policies and Procedures. The guidelines can be viewed via a link from the Wright Way Policies to the CaTS Web site.

III. CTL Update
a. Dan DeStephen attended the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education SOCHE) meeting on February 14, 2002. The topic of the meeting was "SOCHE's On-Line Learning Certificate Project." This project was begun to address issues relating to the development of on-line learning courses by faculty members. This pilot project will begin on February 25 for sixteen weeks, with the entire program lasting two years. Dan will post this information to all faculty in the near future.

b. Terri Klaus announced WSU did not receive either the "Organizational Leadership Grant" or the College of Education and Human Services' grant for the "Bike Shop Project" from OBR.

IV. Other Business
David Grossie requested a change of room locations for the UTC monthly meetings.


The next scheduled UTC meeting will be on Thursday, March 14, 2002 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in 158 University Hall.
