I. Approval of Minutes of Latest Meeting
There were no corrections or additions to the minutes of the March 8, 2001 meeting.  Therefore, the minutes were approved as distributed.

II. CaTS Updates
1)      Paul Hernandez distributed the CaTS Academic Software Support Policy and Matrix which includes a list of products that will be supported along with the levels of support.  Paul asked the members to review this list before it is to be distributed to the campus community.

2)  Also distributed was a review of changes/enhancements to be made to all CaTS computer labs with regard to the Windows 2000 upgrade for Fall Quarter, 2001 (Attachment 3).  A link to the list of applications can be viewed at: http://www.cats.wright.edu/catsweb/applicationlist.htm

3)  CaTS is in the process of developing a set of policies and guidelines with regard to wireless networking and wireless devices in order to ensure the development of a stable and secure wireless infrastructure at WSU. A draft of these policies and guidelines were distributed along with a copy of a memorandum to the Purchasing Dept regarding the purchasing of wireless networking equipment.   At a future meeting, Bonnie Mathies requested a wireless presentation in order to better understand the process.

III. Commercial Library Services
1)  Vicki Montavon updated the committee on the various commercial library services that have become available to students on-line for a fee.  One of the larger services, Questia, offers students access to approximately 50,000 electronic books consisting mostly of a limited number of liberal arts collection. However, any student attending an Ohio college or university using OhioLink has access to more than 30 million books and other materials at no cost to the students. The Library is working with faculty to get this information out to students.

2)  WebCT, the platform used by WSU for distance learning, is collaborating with a company named “Xanedu”, to offer electronic course packets for faculty use. However, when students dial in to access this information, they are required to pay a fee. CTL and the Library are in the process of providing a similar service to faculty.

3)  Another ebook initiative in progress is the collaboration between the Library and ABC-Clio to purchase approximately 125 reference handbooks, encyclopedias and dictionaries.

IV. CTL Update
1)      CTL staff has been assisting various colleges with house bill funding requests.

2)      Experimenting with video feeds onto web pages.  This process would allow events and activities to be viewed continuously on the WSU web pages.

3)   Plans are continuing to transform the faculty training room to a wireless              capability.  This should be complete by the end of April.

V. Other Announcements
1)      Donna Hamilton announced a presentation was made on Monday, April 9 to the Board of Trustees updating them on integrated marketing efforts.

2)  Dave Sauter announced the Registrar’s Office is working on a multiple delivery service project in order to get registration information to students via the web. This is due to the fact that many institutions are phasing out “touch tone” registration in favor of web registration

3)  Paul Hernandez announced the successful upgrade of faculty and staff modems the weekend of April 7.
