I. Approval of Minutes of Latest Meeting
There were no corrections or additions to the minutes of the February 8, 2001 meeting. Therefore, the minutes were approved as distributed.

II. CTL Update
Andy Montesano gave the committee an update on the Interactive Video Distance Learning (IVDL) classes being offered at WSU.  As the IVDL classes must be scheduled through the CTL department, a list of IVDL Protocols has been designed to assist in the preparation for scheduling of these classes.  Also distributed was a list of classes currently scheduled for Spring, Summer and Fall Quarters, 2001.

III. CaTS Update
1)  Larry Fox gave a brief update on changes planned for Fall Quarter, 2001.

A)    CaTS labs will adopt a Windows 2000 format on all computers.

B)     The labs will also begin running Office 2000.

C)    A hardware device called Centurian Guard has been deployed in the labs which enables all computers, when rebooted, to return to the original image.

D)    Beginning Fall Quarter, all dot matrix printing will be eliminated from the labs.  The cost savings due to this reduction will enable CaTS to reduce the cost of laser printing to the students to $ .07/page (front & back) for black and white, $ .75/page for color.

E)     Presently, all computers ordered from Omnitech have Windows ’98 and Office 2000 installed.  Beginning Fall Quarter, all new machines will have Windows 2000 and Office 2000 installed.

           F)    During the week of spring break, an upgrade of modems will take place.
This will increase the number of faculty modems to 46 and staff modems
                   to 15.

2)  Mary Clem notified the committee of an Academic Software Support Policy which  is  being formulated and will be distributed at the next meeting.  This will inform users   as to the levels of support offered by CaTS for individual software products.

IV. Progress Report on Distance Learning Plan
Due to the limited amount of information regarding distance learning included in the original University Technology Plan, Dan DeStephen reported that a more comprehensive report is being drafted detailing the future plans for distance learning at WSU. A draft of this plan will be distributed at the May UTC meeting

V. Announcements
The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, April 12, 2001 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in E157 Student Union.
