Therefore, the minutes were approved as distributed. II. Update on Responsible Use Policy - Vicki Montavon With one minor change to the Responsible Use Policy by Gwen Mattison, the Provost will take the revised policy before the Cabinet for approval. Jackie McMillan will then add the revision to the Wright Way Policy Manual in the very near future. III. Draft Policy on the Hosting of Web-Based Distance Learning and Web-Enhanced Courses - Dan DeStephen and Paul Hernandez This draft policy, distributed at the last UTC meeting, was initiated due to support issues involving distance education students. Paul Hernandez gave an example of a faculty member using a remote site in place of the university server to host a distance learning course and students calling a central support number when questions arise, it becomes very difficult to assist the students. The members of UTC unanimously endorsed the basic principles of this policy and at a future meeting a permanent policy will be presented for endorsement. Also, Dan DeStephen distributed a report on the "History of Distance Learning/Web Enhancement" using WebCT from January, 1999 to October, 2000. IV. Educause Conference Report - Dan DeStephen and Vicki Montavon Approximately ten staff members from the university (CTL, CaTS and University Library) attended the annual Educause Conference in Nashville, Tennessee recently. The main topics of interest were discussions on the need for educational institutions to integrate portals and e-commerce into their systems (conducting electronic business such as registration, grading system, purchasing, credit card transactions, etc).
