MEETING MINUTES

April 27, 2006

Attendees:   Bonnie Mathies, Chuck Taylor, Greg Kojola, Phil Neff, Mill Miller, Patricia Vendt, Dan DeStephen, Carol Rader, and Barbara Denison, and Carol Holdcraft

Approval of Minutes

Minutes of the February meeting were approved as written.

CaTS Updates

 

A)  Patricia Vendt discussed the implementation of a server registration process which is intended to protect desktop computers Further questions regarding this subject should be directed to Patricia at x4035.

 

B)  Patricia also discussed the establishment of categories of WSU data users and the varying authority and responsibilities of the users on Wright State’s IT resources.  A Data Responsibility Policy will be developed in the near future for new and existing employees. 

 

CTL Updates

A)  CTL is investigating the possibility of creating the Apple iTunes U environment for Wright State. CTL has received a number of requests for PODcasting lectures and classroom materials.  Faculty will have a choice to provide classroom educational content, including lectures, using the popular iPOD technology.  Apple is offering WSU a free hosting service giving students the ability to access and download iPOD broadcasts, provided by the faculty, to their PCs or Macs.  Students will also be able to transfer that content to their iPODs for viewing or listening at their convenience.

 

B)  Dan DeStephen distributed and reviewed copies of the “Distance Learning at Wright State University Strategic Plan 2007-2011” and the Executive Summary.  This plan will be presented to the NCAA and the Council of Deans in the near future.  *Table 5 of the Strategic Plan contains hypothetical numbers.  This is not a commitment from any of the colleges.
