Unclassified Staff Advisory Council

Welcome to the USAC Web Site

The purpose of the Unclassified Staff Advisory Counci (USAC) is to represent its members to the university by: promoting their general welfare; advocating for unclassified staff through active participation in university governance structure; reviewing, initiating and making recommendation on relevant university policies and procedures; encouraging and facilitating communication among members; and encouraging professional development opportunities. 

One of the prime responsibilities of this council is to serve the educational community by creating and maintaining an environment conducive to the teaching, learning, research and service functions of higher education. The recommendations of the council are submitted to the university president.

USAC Election Results 2014

The Unclassified Staff Advisory Council (USAC) would like to congratulate the following on their elections to USAC:

Jerry, Teresa, Amanda, and Chris will be serving full three-year terms ending 2017.

We'd like to extend our thanks to all of you who participated in the voting. USAC is a meaningful form of service to the university, its staff, and students. We commend this year's winners on their willingness to serve.

 

USAC Elections 2014

Nominations for the Unclassified Staff Advisory Council (USAC) are now open! If you know a coworker who might be interested in making a valuable contribution to WSU by representing the interests of your peers, then please nominate them today. USAC is an advisory group that brings matters of workplace concern, such as benefits, recognition, University policy, and other issues, to the University administration. All unclassified and unclassified hourly staff are eligible to serve on USAC.

Nominations for four positions will be open from Tuesday, May 6th through Friday, May 16th. Each staff person may nominate one eligible person (listed here) via this Qualtrics survey. All nominees will be contacted to verify their interest in serving on USAC, and will be asked to submit a brief statement of interest. If the individual you would like to nominate is not included on the list below, feel free to send their name directly to Jonathan Jackson, Chair-Elect, to be verified for eligibility.

2014 President's Award for Excellence: Now Accepting Nominations!

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS:
Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

The President’s Awards for Excellence is now accepting nominations.

Please nominate a deserving staff person or unit in the following areas:

  • Human Relations
  • Leadership
  • Service
  • Outstanding Unit
  • Collaborative Units
  • Spirit of Innovation
The nomination process will remain open until Wednesday, April 23, at 5 p.m. All classified and unclassified staff are eligible for nomination. The staff can be from either of our campuses—Lake or Dayton—or any of our affiliated institutes, such as Duke Ellis, Calamityville, or WSRI, to name a few.

Staff and/or faculty may nominate a deserving staff person. The person or unit nominated may be in your office or division or you may nominate a person or unit in another area of campus that you have had the opportunity to work with in the past year.

Remember, anyone who nominates an award recipient will receive a $50 cash award. Please consider nominating one or more of your deserving colleagues. Additional information, nominating instructions and forms can be found here at the President’s Awards for Excellence website.

Wright State University Staff Open Forum

There will be a Staff Open Forum held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, with the following guests:

  • Dr. S. Narayanan, University Provost;
  • Dr. Mark Polatajko, Vice President for Business and Fiscal Affairs;
  • Dr. Steven Berberich, Associate Provost for Faculty and Staff Affairs;
  • Mary Ellen Ashley, Vice President of Enrollment Management;
  • Shari Mickey-Boggs, Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer;
  • Hazel Rountree, University Ombudsperson;
  • Tom Webb, Director of Disability Services; and
  • Peggy Bloom, University Wellness Director.

In preparation for this event, we are soliciting questions for CSAC, LSAC, USAC, and/or our guests to address. Please use the form provided below for your question(s). While we would all like all of the questions to be addressed during the event, our presenters reserve the right to respond to their choice of the submitted question(s) as time and opportunity allow.

You will remain anonymous and confidential during the Staff Open Forum. (If your question is of a personal nature, it will not be addressed publicly but will be responded to privately by the appropriate individual(s)).
