include language for creating and sustaining USAC subcommittees,
which may ultimately happen in the form of a new USAC Charter
Subcommittee.

Members are encouraged to consider serving as secretary or chair
elect next year.
D. WSU Committee Reports
1. Athletic Council - Vivian Mitchell - A new
Blackboard-to-Backboard Challenge has encouraged students to attend
Athletics events. WSU must commit to a new Gender Equity program
through 2015. Spring sports are now underway. Athletics is looking
at ways to use the Banner system for reporting.
2. Diversity Advocacy Council - Megan Watson - No report.
3. Parking Services - John Holm -
Notes attached
(w/ map of proposed new lot).
4. Semester Conversion Committee - Chris Wydman - The faculty
stoppage continues, keeping most of the semester conversion progress
delayed. Next week, a detailed proposal should be finalized to
create a Semester Conversion office, which would remain open for
approximately three years. With the conversion, there will be fewer
classes but more students per class. So, a survey is being completed
to see if WSU has enough classrooms to accommodate increased class
size.
5. Sustainability - Karen Strider-Iiames - March agenda attached. The Sustainability Advisory Committee met on March 11.
A web page on sustainability is in the planning stages. Hunt
Brown, director of sustainability, and Nick Kizirnis, director of web
design and interactive strategies, met to discuss the project,
tentatively planned for late spring. Hunt Brown, WSU director of sustainability, will present "Earth Day at
40: Environmental Successes and Continuing Challenges" on April 8 from
5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Dunbar Library, fourth floor. As part of the
Barnes & Noble University Bookstore Friends of the Libraries' Lecture
Series, he will discuss the evolution of environmental issues since
Earth Day was established in 1970, and offer suggestions about what
individuals and companies can do to save energy and water, reduce waste,
and more. Free and open to the public. Registration is requested by
calling 775-2380 or online.
6. University Dining Services - Melissa Vanzant - Notes attached

March.

9. WSU Staff Council - Jacqueline Neal, Mary Healea, Rob Boley, Curt
Pederson, Chris Wydman - A Separation Checklist is being created that
provides comprehensive steps to follow when employees leave WSU. The
revised timeline for the new Master Plan will likely be late
summer/early fall. Historically, USAC hasn't been represented at
quarterly OSCHE meetings, but we will be sending a representative in
the future. USAC was also encouraged to send representatives to
future Board of Trustees meetings. WSU is sending out an RFP for a
new Wellness Program.
