2-Diversity Advocacy Council - Jay Peterson

The University Diversity Advocacy Council will have it's next meeting tomorrow, January 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. room 267 University Hall.

UDAC is working in conjunction with the Quest for Community committee, and had it's second meeting on January 8. Format of the day-long conference was discussed as well as format for selection criteria for programs. Quest is scheduled for Friday, April 13, 2007. A presidential lecture speaker is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 and will coincide with issues on diversity. UDAC continues to work with the planning representatives from all academic and non-academic departments. Each area has been asked to address an issue of diversity on April 13 - some of which may be specific learning programs/activities or academic posters. Quest is co-chaired by Amber Vlasnik, Dir. Women's Center, and Jeff Vernooy, Dir. Disability Services.

3-Parking Services - Mike Coyle

There has been no meeting since the last report.

4-University Dining Services - Karin Nevius

There has been no meeting since the last report.

5-University Staff Council - Mendy Beverly, Barb Bullock, Greg Kojola, John Sheidler

Parking was discussed again. There is a new study to review runoff if a lot is added in place of the prairie grass. Looking at solution for both faculty & staff that must arrive during the day.

Al Boggs discussed HR187. This goes in effect July 1, 2007. It will allow Ohio universities to make changes to certain aspects of civil service employment.

Parental Leave process was approved. The University wants to start as soon as possible.

6-Wellness and Recreation - Sheryl Kent

No report for Wellness and Rec. except that University Challenge has begun.

This Weeks Schedule of Events:
Jan. 8th - March 9th Cross Ohio
Jan. 9th - March 13th Weight Watchers
Jan. 10th Java & Jazz
Jan. 11th Blood Drive
Jan. 12th Chair Massage
Jan. 12th Physical Component Presentation

The 2007 University Challenge is off to a great start and thank you to everyone that was able to attend the kickoff presentation last Friday. As promised I will send weekly updates on the events for the week as well as challenges to look forward to. Please keep in mind that you do not have to sign up for the University Challenge just the activities and challenges that comprise the program. Although we would love for everyone to participate in all the events, your objective should be to participate at your convenience. You can find a complete list of the events at the follow web site. This will also guide you to the standings.

V. Old Business

1-Dr Goldenberg Retirement Celebration
The event is January 16th. Invitations have gone out. Barb Bullock will be one of the presenters.

2-Staff Development Day
Event was well attended and received. Over 500 attendees. May need some new committee members. May look at moving dates of future events.

3-CSAC/USAC Holiday Party
Event was renamed to Winterfest due to schedule change. Event is Feb 1st from 2:30-4:00 in the Apollo Room. Dr Hopkins is scheduled to attend. There will be Irish dancers. CSAC will hold a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going to a domestic violence shelter. The price will be a gift card to the Mall at Fairfield Commons.

4-Human Resources
Al Boggs thinks the open forum HR meeting is a good idea. John Sheidler is trying to set the date. We hope it will be the week of March 19th so we can get a large room. There will be pre submitted questions and the chance to ask at the open forum.

5-Goals for 2006/2007
No new information.

6-Faculty Parking
See notes under Staff Council report above.

An email went out earlier this week. It did not go out to everyone. Greg Kojola will follow up and see what happened. We may need to resend to everyone.

New look is being rolled out to website. Half of the main pages are done. Greg will continue to roll it out on other pages. Thanks to Mark Anderson in IDTL for working on the banner.

VI. New Business

No new business.

The meeting was adjourned by John Sheidler, USAC Chair at 9:10 am.
