NEW BUSINESS1. Staff Development Day The date for the next WSU Staff Development Day has been set for December 14th. Anticipated sessions will include: Banner Human Resources and Payroll, Myers-Briggs Typological Indicator, Stress Management, and Listening & Memory.
Lillie Howard will be the luncheon speaker – the topic cover the accreditation process.
2. USAC Website Update Linda Hockaday reported that the USAC is now up to date. She will be working on the site from home, due to technology limitations in her office. This means that it may take a few days for new information to be loaded on the site.
Linda reported that she plans to streamline the website by change the existing archival minutes and agenda pages to PDF documents. All future documents will be added to the site as PDF documents instead of as individual web pages.
It was agreed by the group that the link to the 2003 USAC Survey Results could be removed from the homepage.
Linda encourages input from all staff as to ways to improve and update the USAC website. It was suggested that we review the CSAC website for ideas.
3. WSU Staff Council Meeting Update Mendy Beverly reported that the WSU Staff Council held their first meeting on September 28, 2005. This group is a combination of classified and unclassified staff – providing a collaborative venue for discussion of issues that concern both groups.
Mendy reported that discussion primarily surrounded the flat rate payroll scale and its effects on classified staff.
Dr. Rickert, convener for the group, suggested that the group create an official proposal to close down over the holiday break. The group did not feel that this was possible for 2005/2006. This subject will be continued for consideration in future yeas.
Future topics for WSU Staff Council meetings are viewable on their website: www.wright.edu/admin/staffcouncil/ . If anyone would like to suggest a topic for this group, please forward your ideas to a Staff Council member.
4. Strategic Planning Committee Retreat - MB attended. Mendy Beverly attended this event which focused on reviewing the strategic plan and were the university stands. The most discussed item seemed to be the Wright Center for Innovation – a new building under construction.
5. CSAC/USAC Holiday Party CSAC has invited USAC to share the holiday party again this year. It is scheduled for December 15th. After brief discussion it was agreed that we would join them in this event. Mendy Beverly will work with Tami Smith, CSAC Chair, on this.
