Purpose:
The Staff Development Committee is charged by the Vice President
for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services to create development opportunities
and programs for the staff within the Division.
Committee
Membership
- The committee consists of one representative from each unit within
the Division.
- Representatives are appointed by each department Director.
- Representatives serve two-year terms with half of the committee
rotating off each year as follows:

Committee Leadership:
- Committee leadership includes a chair, chair-elect, and advisor
- The chair-elect will serve a one-year term and is recommended
for appointment by the committee.
- Final approval is granted by the Vice President for Student Affairs
and Enrollment Services. Upon satisfactory completion of chair-elect
duties, the chair-elect will serve as the committee chair for the
subsequent year.
- The term of office for the chair position is one year.
- The advisor is appointed by the Vice President from among departmental
Directors and VPSA staff.
Leadership Duties:
Chair
- Convenes general, quarterly meetings
- Oversees the Recognition and Training/Orientation Committees
- Produces Annual Report
- Facilitates Annual Planning Retreat
- Formulates and presents budgetary issues
Chair-Elect
- Records minutes of general meetings
- Maintains committee records
- Maintains the Calendar of Events
- Oversee Community Service and Esprit de Corps Committees
Advisor
- Serves as liaison with directors and the Vice President
- Facilitates annual review of committee purpose and structure
- Advises committee leadership
Subcommittees:
- Esprit de Corps Subcommittee - This subcommittee plans
and coordinates social events for the staff within the division
to foster team spirit and extend appreciation for hard work.
- Community Service Subcommittee - This subcommittee plans
and provides opportunities for staff to participate in community
service projects both on and off campus.
- Recognition Subcommittee - This subcommittee plans and
manages recognition programs and initiatives for staff members within
the division.
- Training/Orientation Subcommittee
- The training /orientation subcommittee provide opportunities
for new staff members in the division to connect with other staff
members, learn about the services offered by departments within
the division, and help them understand the role of Student Affairs
and Enrollment Services at WSU. The subcommittee also develops or
identifies opportunities for staff to engage in professional and
personal growth opportunities. Programs may include conferences,
seminars, guest speakers, and cross-training.
Subcommittee Membership and Leadership:
- Each subcommittee will consist of several members of the Staff
Development Committee and other staff members from within the division
as needed.
- Subcommittee chairs will be selected from the membership of the
Staff Development Committee.
- Subcommittee chairs will serve a one-year term.
- Subcommittee chairs are responsible for continuous written and
verbal communication of events including evaluation of programs
