NEW GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
The new General Education program provides the opportunity for departments to offer a variety of courses that meet the Faculty Senate approved learning goals in each of the defined General Education areas.
The new General Education program is scheduled for implementation in Fall 2003. In order to meet this Board of Trustees mandated deadline, all course to be designated as General Education courses must be proposed by a college (or department or program), reviewed by GEIC and the University Curriculum and Policy Committee, and approved by the Faculty Senate. All courses must be reviewed in this process. No course has been "grandfathered in" and thus no course will simply be carried over from the current General Education Program.
GEIC REPORT SENT TO THE FACULTY SENATE
The General Education Implementation Committee (GEIC) has submitted its report to the Faculty Senate. The Report includes the courses recommended by GEIC to the Senate in each of the six areas of the new General Education program.
