The Office of General Counsel provides legal advice and representation to Wright State University, its Board of Trustees, officers, and employees acting on behalf of the University. Each of the attorneys in the Office of General Counsel is appointed as an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Ohio in addition to his or her university job title.  

The Office of General Counsel’s responsibilities include:

• Providing legal advice and consultation on legal-policy issues
• Overseeing litigation involving the university
• Consultation on a variety of legal services including employment matters, student affairs, immigration, regulatory compliance, real estate, public records, subpoenas, and contracts
• Providing training and workshops in areas such as ethics, FERPA, and public records

The Office of General Counsel does not provide legal advice or representation to individual members of the university community on matters against the university or on other personal legal matters. It also does not provide legal advice to students. Students may reach out to Student Legal Services.
