Dear Campus Community,
Fall Semester has been in session for almost two weeks now and I appreciate the efforts of everyone in our campus community to help stop the spread of COVID-19. I see people wearing their face coverings and practicing physical distancing, as well as other measures. With the Labor Day holiday weekend approaching, I ask each of you to please exercise extreme caution when interacting with friends and family or attending activities. We must remain vigilant and work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19, which still presents a high risk of exposure in our area.
The first two weeks of classes have gone well and students and faculty have been adapting to the combination of remote, in-person, and flexible delivery courses. Because different meeting times, delivery modes, and technologies used in individual courses may still present challenges for some students, I want to again encourage any students to please reach out to your faculty member with questions or concerns. We all care deeply about your success, so please do not hesitate to seek help or clarifications. I will use this chance to also remind students that the Student Retention Team is available to help with a wide array of issues.
We soon will offer COVID-19 testing on our Dayton Campus. We are working with Wright State Physicians to provide a convenient testing center for our students and employees. A doctor’s order from Wright State Physicians will be required to administer a COVID-19 test. The drive-through testing center will be located at the Lot 20 bus shelter, next to the Wright State Physicians Health Center, 725 University Blvd. The tentative start date is September 14, with initial anticipated days/hours of Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. More information will be forthcoming.
As I mentioned in my letter earlier this week, we launched a COVID-19 Dashboard that shows all active COVID-19 cases for the Dayton and Lake Campuses. As of today, we have a total of eight students and one employee, all from the Dayton Campus. The dashboard will be updated regularly. We continue to follow our protocols for a confirmed case of COVOD-19 and anyone believed to have been in close contact with the infected individuals will be contacted.
I ask anyone in our campus community who tests positive for COVID-19 to self-report through our COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form.
