[OFFICIAL-L] University Libraries Leadership Appointments

In August 2021, I announced that Karen Wilhoit had agreed to serve as interim university librarian and that Mandy Shannon had agreed to serve as interim associate university librarian. Today, I am delighted to announce that based on their outstanding records as interim appointees, Karen Wilhoit will become university librarian and Mandy Shannon will become associate university librarian.

Having joined the Dunbar Library in 1992 and having served as associate university librarian for collections since 2004, Karen has a thorough understanding of the University Libraries and of its role in the university. In addition to an undergraduate degree in English from Western Kentucky University and a graduate degree in English from the University of Kentucky, Karen holds a Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University. She was highly recommended to serve as interim university librarian, and I have very much enjoyed the opportunity to discuss with her the goals and plans for the 2021–2022 year. I know that she enjoys the support and respect of the faculty and that under her leadership, the University Libraries will sustain its central role on campus.

Mandy, who joined Wright State in 2013 and has served as head of instruction and research services since 2016, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Eastern Michigan University, a master’s degree in political science from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Library Science degree from Clarion University. As was Karen, Mandy was highly recommended to serve as interim associate university librarian and enjoys the support and respect of the faculty.

I am confident that with both of these accomplished leaders, the University Libraries will continue to flourish.

Please join me in congratulating and thanking Karen and Mandy for their willingness to assume these responsibilities on an ongoing basis.
