Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in celebrating National Transfer Student Week October 18–22 as we recognize transfer student success and recommit ourselves to enhancing their experiences. The purpose of National Transfer Student Week is two-fold: to celebrate not only the values, contributions, and presence of our transfer students but also the support and dedication of our faculty and staff who are transfer champions; and to increase awareness among faculty and staff about our students and reflect on our own practices to make our university more welcoming to transfer students.

Transfer students are an integral part of the Wright State community. In fact, they make up one-third of the overall fall 2021 incoming class. We know that Wright State is a great university for transfer students. We know that they bring with them unique experiences that enrich our classrooms while also contributing to the diversity and inclusivity of our student body.

During National Transfer Student Week, Wright State will host coordinated events and activities both on- and off-campus. Please check out the schedule on Wright State's National Transfer Student Week webpage and participate if you can.

On a personal note, I am excited about the upcoming week. I was a transfer student myself and so too were two of my immediate family members. I, therefore, have a personal understanding of the challenges and opportunities students experience when transferring schools. Like so many of you, I am committed to enhancing transfer students’ experiences at Wright State and celebrating their success stories.

Thank you for all you do to support our transfer students.

Best wishes,

Sue
