October 1, 2020 - From the President's Desk

Dear Colleagues,

It’s hard to believe that the university we know and love first came into existence 53 years today. Whether you’re new to the Wright State University family or you’ve been part of this remarkable community for decades, each and every one of you is a valued part of our long legacy of excellence.

On today, our Founders Day, it only seems fitting that we take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together over the last 53 years. This is a day to remember all of the dedicated faculty and staff who have gone before us and to recognize our amazing alumni who continue to shine their light all around the globe. Most of all, it is a day to celebrate our hardworking students, as they pursue their dreams of a college education.

When Wright State celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017, we decided to recognize October 1 not only as our Founders Day, but as the Wright Day to Give. This annual giving day is a time for our entire Wright State family—our faculty, staff, and alumni—to come together and show our support for our incredible students.

Will you please join me today and make your gift to help our students? I know times may be tough. But in challenging times, we have the greatest opportunity to come together and advance our mission. Now is the time to lift one another up and to look forward to brighter days ahead. We’re all in this together, and we will come out the other side stronger and more resilient than before.

This year has been a year like no other. As we’ve all struggled to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, I think we can agree that 2020 has been one of the most difficult years of our lives. Our students have faced challenges as never before and deserve our unwavering support. As we enter the final months of this incredibly challenging year, let’s turn the tide and make the Wright Day to Give one of the bright spots of 2020!

Thank you for your continued support of our great university and for your steadfast dedication to our students.
