January 3, 2022 - [OFFICIAL-L] Wishing you a happy and healthy start to the Spring Semester

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this holiday break has given you the opportunity to rest and enjoy some relaxing time with friends and family. Your rejuvenated energy and steadfast commitment to our students will be critical to launching a successful Spring Semester this week.

Given the current surge of COVID-19 cases across the country and in the regions our campuses serve, please keep in mind the following COVID best practices as you prepare to return Tuesday, January 4:

  • Vaccination and booster shots remain the best protection. Vaccination plus a booster (for those 16 and older) offers the best protection from serious illness, hospitalization, or death from COVID-19. Wright State will again offer vaccinations and boosters during Spring Semester at the Dayton Campus Testing and Vaccination Center. You can also find vaccine and booster appointments in your community at gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov.

  • All Wright State employees, including student employees and graduate assistants, must be fully vaccinated and upload an image of their federal vaccination card, or apply for a university-approved medical or religious exemption, by January 4, 2022. University employees can confirm they are fully vaccinated by uploading an image of their federal COVID-19 vaccination card on Med+Proctor, a secure medical third-party website. This reporting process is free. You may disregard any presented options to pay for expedited or additional services on the site.

  • Get tested if you are symptomatic or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Contact your health care provider for testing advice. Testing is also available at the Dayton Campus Testing and Vaccination Center. The testing center will reopen the week of January 10.

  • Isolate if you have tested positive and follow CDC guidelines.

  • Quarantine if you have been exposed and follow CDC guidelines.

  • Wear masks indoors on campus. We are keeping in place the indoor mask policy at the start of Spring Semester. All students, faculty, staff, and visitors will continue to be required to wear a face mask when inside all buildings on the Dayton and Lake Campuses.

  • If you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME! Conduct a daily self-assessment and stay home if you feel sick. The health and safety of our students and employees remains our highest priority. If you are sick, stay home, rest up, and get better before returning to work.

I strongly encourage everyone who is able to get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster.

Please visit the university’s coronavirus website frequently to view updates to guidance and policies. Coronavirus cases from our community continue to be tracked on the university’s COVID Dashboard.

Thank you in advance for your continued commitment to these campus safety protocols and to the health and well-being of all of our students, faculty, staff, and guests across both our campuses.

With help and guidance from our COVID-19 Task Force, we will continue to adjust our strategies and response to protect the university community, and with your continued support, we are confident that we can continue to meet the needs of our students and have a successful Spring Semester.

Best wishes,

Sue
