Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to a new academic year!

The start of the Fall Semester is such an exciting time, ushering in a new beginning for many of us. While we may still be learning, teaching, and working through an unprecedented crisis, it does not diminish the hope and enthusiasm I have for the 2021–22 year.

Without a doubt, this academic year will be exciting and challenging as we emerge from our near-fully remote operations of the last year and return to campus to greet and serve our students and each other. This year we will be focused on creating and nurturing an inclusive student-centered culture that supports and celebrates students' academic and co-curricular successes.

As we planned for the academic year, we continued to prioritize balancing the health and safety of our Wright State community with resuming our robust and engaging in-person college campus experience. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly over the summer to prepare for Fall Semester.

All faculty, staff, students, and visitors are asked to comply with all health and safety protocols and guidelines to keep our Wright State family safe. The past 18 months have taught us that the pandemic can change at a moment’s notice so please visit the university’s coronavirus website frequently to stay informed.

I recommend everyone do the following:

  • Get the COVID vaccine.
  • Conduct a daily self-assessment and stay home if you are sick.
  • Wear face masks when inside all campus buildings, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Wash your hands regularly and keep hand sanitizer with you.
  • Follow all posted guidelines.

We are still in the middle of what can be a stressful situation, filled with uncertainty and worry for some. I ask that you check on and support your friends and coworkers regularly. Faculty and staff can seek 24/7 live support through the Employee Assistance Program.

I remind you that this continues to be an evolving situation, so please be patient, tolerant, and, most importantly, kind to one another because we are all in this together.

I am looking forward to an excellent Fall Semester and cannot wait to see you on campus.

Best wishes,

Sue
