Position Description
The Associate Provost for Faculty and Staff Affairs will:
- Assist the provost in overseeing all areas related to faculty and staff relations, including negotiation and administration of faculty contracts and the grievance process
- Oversee professional development including new faculty orientation, department chair training, mentorship, recognition, professional development leaves, partnerships between faculty and businesses, summer instructional budgets, promotion and tenure, discipline, and the faculty collective bargaining agreement
- Have oversight of the directors of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Organizational Development and Learning, and the Wellness Center; shares supervision of Human Resources; and acts as provost liaison to the Wright State University Staff Council, USAC and CSAC, and the WSU Retirees Association
Qualifications
Minimum
- Professor or associate professor with at least five years at Wright State
- Extensive understanding of faculty policies, faculty collective bargaining agreements, and faculty governance
- Successful leadership experience as a department chair, associate dean, and/or in faculty governance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to find creative solutions to resolve individual disputes as well as complex institutional problems
Preferred
- Tenured faculty member at the rank of full professor
- Ten or more years of experience at Wright State
