How has WSU made a difference in your life?

Wright State University is dedicated to the enrichment of students' lives! And, we're happy to see that WSU really is making a difference! From helping students reach academic goals in their lives to allowing them extracurricular outlets to make new friends and get involved, WSU students have a lot to say!

Abby Brown, organizational leadership "I had no clue what I wanted to do when I came to Wright State, but the professors and advisors here really helped me to figure it out. And, I ended up loving it! I also had a couple of jobs on campus, including one that helped me realize how much I like working and planning media events."

Adam Eaton, undecided "Wright State has been a big change for me. The biggest difference is just going to college and taking classes. There is a lot more responsibility than there was in high school and it's great life experience. I just really like where I am at."

Alicia Escalante, accounting/finance "Wright State brought me closer to my family because when I moved away I knew I had to come back. WSU gave me the opportunity to be close to where I grew up. And by learning a lot about finance and how important it was, my classes helped me to find my career path."

Alicia Phillips, criminal justice "It's been a big change in life experience. I went from being in high school to being out in the real world. It's really helped me to see exactly what is going on out there. At Wright State, I've gotten to experience a lot more opportunities and responsibilities. As a sophomore, it's already been a really great place and I tell people all the time to come to WSU and experience it too!"

Amber Couch, early childhood education "I came to Wright State because it has a really good teaching program. So far I haven't taken too many classes, but the ones I have taken have been great. All my professors have really helped to convince me that my decision to be a teacher is the right choice."

Anthony Crews, English "I have met a lot of nice people on campus, a lot of new friends. Wright State also helped me meet a lot of professionals in order to establish networks for future jobs."

Beth Gallo, history "Working in the Raj Soin College of Business has provided me with the opportunity to meet new people and try a different area of study that I have never been associated with. In my own subject, there have been professors that have made me love history again. With faculty so willing to help you and with such a passion for what they teach, it just makes the students love the subject in return."

Brooke Garner, rehabilitation services "Wright State has made a difference in my life because the people have been very positive. I've been meeting great people and great friends. My classes have been a little hectic, but the teachers are great at helping me out!"

Cameron Couch, music "Wright State has made me a way better musician that I ever thought I would be. There is a lot of potential that I knew I had, but just couldn't get it out; WSU's faculty helped me to reach my true potential."

Charlie King, criminal justice "Wright State has given me a place to meet new people, so I can network and know a lot more people that can help me along in my career. And, it's really given me a home away from home. WSU is a place that I know I have someplace to go where I can find friends or find places that are comfortable to me. Wright State also helped to get me my internship with the police department. That, more than anything, has really given me an insight to what the real world is actually going to be when I get there. Now, I have a jump start to prepare for what's ahead of me."

Christina Bishop, music "Wright State has allowed me to see a whole new culture. I grew up in a very closed society where there wasn't much diversity. I really like the difference I have found at this university."

DayRon Miles, theatre "Wright State has made a difference on so many different levels: socially, culturally, academically, and more. At WSU, I've gotten a chance to be social with people who look like me and people that don't, people who come from places like mine and people that don't. I love interacting with all these different types of people. I've been able to learn something from all of them. I'm also able to learn about things I have never experienced before as a theatre major. Really, Wright State has just really changed me; it's made me a better person."

Ganene Edwards, public relations "Wright State University really opened my eyes to a lot of diversity, with cultures everywhere being able to come together and have fun."

Haley Fritz, middle childhood education "Since it's my first year at college, it has really helped open my eyes to different types of people because I came from a very small community. Some of my teachers also are really cool; they just get us really involved in academics while having fun."

Haley Rowles, English education "I was able to get a job on campus and have met some great people there that have shown me around and become great friends. I have also met some interesting people through my advising and classes and all of them have helped me to figure out what I what to do with my major and the rest of my life."

Jennifer Arnett, marketing "When I changed my career path, I decided to come back to Wright State. I had a good experience here as an undergrad and wanted that to continue. Wright State has given me the opportunity to learn from professors with real-world experience, to network with local business professionals, and to work in a position related to my course of study."

Jennifer McFaddin, public affairs "Wright State has made me a better leader. It has encouraged me to want to give back to the community that has raised me. The public administration program is definitely a great program to encourage leaders to serve the communities around them."

Jessica Stamps, early childhood education "It's opened my eyes to a lot more experiences. I got to study abroad in Ireland and I never would have been able to do that without going to WSU for college. I've also made amazing friends here that will stay with me the rest of my life."

Joel Parker, management information systems "Wright State is a new beginning for me. A time to be on my own and to learn to be independent. Wright State has given me many opportunities to become involved in many different organizations. My involvement in Honors Community Council has given me a chance to meet new people and become involved in campus life. I have been able to participate in many fun events that I have helped plan and coordinate. I am the newest member of the Wright State University Web Team. As a member of the Web team I am able to work on campus in an area that is not only my field of study but also something that I enjoy."

Kathryn McAdoo, middle childhood education "Wright State has helped be to get even closer to being a teacher. They allowed me to complete my practical experience, which gave me the opportunity to work with fifth graders and also reaffirmed my desire to be a teacher."

Katie Michalak, early childhood education "Wright State has made a big difference in my life! They accepted all of my credits to earn my second degree. Plus, I came to Wright State before and knew the kind of professors that taught there. Wright State is affordable and really helpful in assisting students to reach their goals."

Katie Wheeler, music "Wright State has allowed me to expand my horizons and learn a lot about music. It's allowed me to gain a really good education and feel like I've learned a lot in my year here. Plus, I've met a lot of new friends and people from different backgrounds, which is something I didn't get to do in high school."

Katrina Miller, studio art "At Wright State, I was able to find an art major that incorporated all the different disciplines instead of just focusing on one. That has really helped me to broaden my knowledge and experience. I also work in the University Center for International Education and it's nice to interact with everyone and see all the different cultures."

Keith Everett, mass communications "I'm a transfer student from Central State. This school makes a difference because there are more opportunities here."

Kent Foust, undecided "Wright State has made tremendous changes and opened opportunities in my life. Now, I can see what is truly out there. It's just been a realization that there are many people out there that I can meet and so many new friends. WSU just gives you an experience of what life can really hold for you."

Louise Eberle, dance "I've learned to take my learning into my own hands. I've had teachers who have really encouraged me to push myself and that has definitely given me some great experience and helped my ability to learn and grow. I'm a dance major and all the dance faculty have really helped shape who I am today."

Mamdouh Alfaez, LEAP "Wright State is just a very good school that is famous in my country, Saudi Arabia. This is my first quarter here and it is very different from my country; many new things; many new people. It's given me a lot of new learning and personal growth."

Manar Aldakheel, management information systems "The professors at Wright State are really nice and really want to help you. I've met some of the nicest people on campus; everyone is just so friendly. Also, the fraternity groups on campus are great resources. They just want to take you in and help you. The people in Chi Alpha have become some of my best friends."

Marlana Tanner, marketing "By choosing Wright State, I was able to better pursue my career path. Also, as a marketing major here I will be able to travel around the world and meet new people. I think that will really help to broaden my horizons as well. The most beneficial experience I've had was when I join the Greek community as a Zeta Tau Alpha. With those new friends and opportunities, I realized that there is a home for me at Wright State."

Matthew Ames, political science and economics "Wright State has made quite a difference in my life. I went here for my first year of school and then transferred to Ohio State. I came back to this school because I like it so much and it has always been such a positive experience for me. My fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau, has also been very important in my life since I've been to school. That organization and the friends I've gained has really kept me going though everything that I've done."

Meghan Bock, marketing "Wright State is where I received my undergraduate degree in international business and the college got me my internship that led my to my first job. And, then that job brought me back to the MBA program. I think I've learned a lot, met a lot of new people, established a good network, and had a lot of fun through my MBA classes."

Menelek Alexander, organizational leadership "Wright State has made a difference in my life by opening me up to new ideas about the economy and the world. The Bolinga Center, in particular, has provided be with a lot of great opportunities. They even paid for my graduation application."

Meredith Tessmer, accounting "It has given me an education at an affordable price, which is great because I don't have to take out loans. Also, I like the class sizes. WSU's classes are smaller which allows for more personal attention and assistance."

Nicole Becker, marketing "I've learned a so much from my classes and I've really enjoyed them. Wright State allowed me to obtain a great job, which will ultimately affect my resume and hopefully get me closer to reaching my goals. All my experiences here have definitely contributed a lot to my future."

Salem Alsulaiman, biomedical engineering "I'm from Saudi Arabia, so when I first came here everything was different. I saw everything like it was new. Since being here, I've made so many friendships and learned a lot. Everything here has just been a new experience to grow."

Sara Melampy, sociology "Wright State has given me the opportunity to grow up a lot in the years I have been here. I transferred from a community college and move away from my parents for the first time when coming here, which was a great experience for me. I joined a sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, and met some wonderful people through the Greek community. I have made a better connection to the staff and faculty, along with a boost to my resume, by holding two different student worker positions on campus. Basically, I wouldn't be the same person I am today without the help of Wright State University."

Sivasai Veruva, finance "I am from India and when I was doing my undergrad I found that Wright State had the major I was looking for. Then, I looked into the courses and found my exact match with my needs. At WSU, I was really excited to work in the labs that are just like the ones I'd have to use in the future."

Everybody is so friendly and helpful, I really feel like WSU is my second home."

Vanessa Walton, international studies and modern languages "Coming to Wright State was the best decision I've made because it's opened up a lot of doors or me that I wouldn't have been able to have at other school. I'm part of the Model United Nations team; I get work and gain experience in the University Center for International Education. I've just had access to really great teachers, great experiences, and opportunities."
