"One of the greatest perks of being in a Sorority, or involved in Greek life, is the community service projects you get to partake in. To begin with every Greek chapter has a philanthropy which they work for year round. This could be by holding their own fund raising events or participating in the philanthropy's local/national events. Also Wright State University Greeks participate in a weekend called "Greeks Hit the Streets" where each chapter does service projects for the community. Aside from giving back through Greek Life I participate in another great community service event. From the age of eleven on I have volunteered my time at the Special Olympics, held in Dayton every year. This event is an all day event and takes place the last Saturday of April at Welcome Stadium. When volunteering I get to work with many other students and residents from the local communities to motivate and encourage the athletes. It's just a really great feeling to give something back!"

"Beta Phi Omega is one of the oldest student organizations at Wright
State, founded on September 21, 1967, shortly after the university
came into being. This year, WSU and Beta Phi Omega celebrate their
40th anniversaries. Beta Phi Omega is a significantly different Greek
organization on campus, because it exists only on Wright State's
campus. This bond has created many great memories on and off campus.
One of the biggest accomplishments of Beta Phi Omega is its strong
link with United Rehabilitation Services of Dayton. This organization
is the former United Cerebral Palsy of Dayton. Since the days of UCP
and now URS, Beta Phi Omega has been supporting them yearly with its
philanthropic endeavors. Beta Phi Omega holds a bi-annual event
called "Row-A-Thon." The brothers of Beta Phi Omega row in an
inflatable raft around the moat surrounding the Hangar for 24 straight
hours collecting donations that 100% go towards URS of Dayton. This
event has been a stronghold since 1967 when Beta Phi Omega was named "Masters of the Moat" by then
current Dean Bruce Lyons for our assistance in helping to construct
the moat. Beta Phi Omega looks forward to always helping URS for the
next 40 years, as URS holds a special place in our hearts. We hope
that URS holds the brothers of Beta Phi Omega, past, present, and
future, in their hearts as well."
